Your GDPR Rights
This page explains the rights you have over your personal data when UK Plug In Solar processes it, and how to exercise those rights. For the full picture of what data we collect and why, see our Privacy Policy.
Who the data controller is
UK Plug In Solar, operating the website ukpluginsolar.co.uk, is the data controller for personal data collected through the site. You can contact us at hello@ukpluginsolar.co.uk.
What UK GDPR is
UK GDPR is the United Kingdom's version of the EU General Data Protection Regulation, retained in UK law after Brexit and sitting alongside the Data Protection Act 2018. It governs how organisations collect, use, and protect personal data, and it gives you a set of rights over the data we hold about you.
Your rights, in plain English
- Right of access. You can ask us to confirm whether we hold personal data about you and, if we do, to give you a copy of it.
- Right to rectification. You can ask us to correct any data we hold that is inaccurate, or to complete data that is incomplete.
- Right to erasure.Sometimes called the "right to be forgotten". You can ask us to delete the personal data we hold about you, subject to a few exceptions in law.
- Right to restrict processing. You can ask us to limit how we use your data — for example, while you contest its accuracy.
- Right to data portability. You can ask us to provide your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format so you can move it to another service.
- Right to object. You can object to us processing your personal data on the basis of legitimate interest. You can also object to direct marketing at any time.
- Rights related to automated decision-making and profiling. You have the right not to be subject to decisions made solely by automated means that produce legal or similarly significant effects. We don't use automated decision-making or profiling of that kind.
- Right to withdraw consent.Where we rely on your consent — for example, for marketing emails — you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect the lawfulness of any processing we did beforehand.
How to exercise your rights
Email us at hello@ukpluginsolar.co.uk and tell us which right you'd like to exercise. We may need to verify your identity before we act. There's no fee for most requests, although we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse to act if a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, as UK GDPR allows.
When you'll hear back
We aim to respond within one calendar month of receiving your request, as required by UK GDPR. If a request is particularly complex, we may extend that period by up to two further months and we'll let you know if we need to.
Complaints
If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your data or your request, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent regulator for data protection. You can contact the ICO at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to address your concerns first, but you can go straight to the ICO if you prefer.
